Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook time 20-30 minutes
1/2 chopped onion or 1 tsp onion powder
4 cloves pressed garlic or 2 tsp minced garlic
3/4 cup of whiskey
1/2 tsp black pepper
2 cups of ketchup
1/4 cup tomato paste
1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
1 TBSP liquid smoke
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup molasses
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/3 tsp tabasco sauce
1. In a large size saucepan over medium heat, add the onion (or powder), garlic Or powder) and whiskey. Cook for about 7 to 10 minutes. Make sure that they are cooked, do not burn them.
2. Add the rest of the ingredients, reduce the heat and let it simmer while stirring occasionally. After about 20 minutes the sauce should thicken and be ready to serve.
3. Strain the sauce if you don't want the garlic gloves or chopped onions directly in the sauce.
4. The sauce may be used immediately, place I the refrigerator for later (if you have a plastic squeeze bottle, that would be good) or place in a mason or canning jar that is freezer proof. It will last for up to six months.
